When I went looking for Woodstock on the 40th anniversary I found fenced in sterile green fields with parking lots, merchandise booths, top 40 local radio, paved walkways, a museum and a concert pavillion. But where were the people? The ones who were there and carried the magic with them throughout thier lives, just like myself? Among the "would be's" or "new be's"... I caught a glimpse here and there of those kindreds.... now greying and a little slower. Just one or two at first. They stood out to me.
I gazed over the field, remembering..... I watched Michael Lang, (one of the producers of the original), playing with his kids on the very dirt that once was holy mud.
Someone mentioned a bar down the road where I might find "the people."
And I found them.
And I found a taste of Woodstock....
...again.
